Description

Day 1: Arrival and Introduction to Khao Yai’s Birdlife
Your bird watching and photography tour begins with your arrival at Khao Yai National Park, one of Thailand’s most renowned birding destinations. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by your expert guide, who will provide an overview of the park’s diverse ecosystems and bird species.

After a brief orientation, you’ll embark on your first birdwatching excursion in the forest trails around the park’s entrance. This is a great opportunity to spot various bird species as they begin their daily activities. Some common species you may encounter on the first day include Red-vented Bulbuls, Asian Brown Flycatchers, and Laughingthrushes.

As the day progresses, we’ll head to a well-known birding spot where you may catch glimpses of the elusive Coral-billed Ground-cuckoo, one of the park’s most sought-after species. This bird is difficult to spot, so patience is key, but it is well worth the wait. In the late afternoon, as the light softens, we’ll have the chance to photograph a range of birds in the golden hour, with a focus on getting the best possible shots of the landscape and wildlife.

Day 2: Searching for Pheasants, Kingfishers, and Trogons
On your second day, the adventure continues with a visit to some of the park’s renowned birding hotspots. We’ll start the day early, exploring the rich habitats of Khao Yai’s grasslands and dense forest areas, home to various fascinating species. Your primary targets will be the magnificent Siamese Fireback and Silver Pheasant. These striking pheasants are a highlight of the park and often provide exceptional opportunities for photography.

Later in the day, we’ll venture to wetland areas where Banded Kingfishers can be found perched by the water. These birds are known for their colorful markings and are often photographed in the early morning light. You’ll also have the chance to see and photograph the beautiful Blue Pitta, which is known for its vibrant plumage and elusive nature.

The afternoon will be spent exploring the forested areas where Red-headed Trogons are often spotted. The combination of vivid colors and the bird’s elusive nature makes this one of the park’s most photogenic species. We’ll also look out for other exotic species that frequent the park’s diverse habitats.

Day 3: Final Birding Adventure and Departure
On the final day of the tour, you’ll spend the morning visiting the park’s waterfalls and streams, perfect locations to photograph the wide variety of bird species that live around these areas. Here, we’ll focus on capturing images of Banded Kingfishers, Red-headed Trogons, and other endemic species, such as Great Hornbills and Barred Cuckoo-Doves.

As the tour concludes, we’ll take one last walk through the park’s lower trails, where you might spot Pygmy Woodpeckers, Brown-throated Sunbirds, and Black-naped Orioles. After a morning of birding, you’ll return to the park’s entrance for your departure.
